This is a quick update for the users of the WP eMember plugin.
WordPress 3.1 has been released! A lot of new features were added in this release. It also tightened some security stuff so it is a good idea to look into upgrading to this version as soon as you can.
WordPress 3.1 changed some internal AJAX functions which caused WP eMember (WordPress Membership Plugin) to not show the member’s list in the “Members” menu. It also affects the “Manage Content Protection” Menu.
We have updated the eMember plugin to address this issue.
If your installation is affected, simply get an updated build of WP eMember plugin from here and that will fix the issue:

You can read up on all the WordPress 3.1 changes from the WordPress Codex site.
All of our plugins are kept up to date to work with the latest version of WordPress.
Does this work with WordPress version 3.1.1
Ajax queries can get cached by the browser so please make sure to clear your browser cache. If that doesn’t work then do a quick troubleshooting for me please… log into your admin using a different browser (the one that you usually don’t use.. eg. IE) and let me know what you see.
Hey guys,
I’ve just updated to the latest version eMember (6.2.5) but it has not fixed the issue where members are not displayed in the Manage Members area.
Unsure what to check here now 🙁
Yeah, you will just use eMember as a gatekeeper.
You basically control everything through the WordPress user roles. I am pretty sure Buddypress works based on what role a WordPress user has and then can give access according to the role.
So what you do is use eMember as the gateway. Don’t allow registration through buddypress. People can only create an account on your site using eMember’s signup process.
You will need to enable the “WordPress User Integration” (check the eMember settings menu). This will create a corresponding WordPress user account with the role you specify for specific membership levels of eMember.
This is what you can expect to happen:
1) User lands on your site
2) They signup using the signup process of eMember (either pay for the signup or register free)
3) When they signup an WordPress account with the correct role (you set this when you set up the membership level in eMember) will be created for this member.
4) When this member logs in Buddypress will pick up their user role and allow access to content that you have setup in Buddypress.
Hi! Does this plugin work with a BuddyPress install?
My config = WP 3.1 , BuddyPress 1.2.8 using theme Jukt Micronics (BuddyPress BuddyPack) 1.2.
What I hope to accomplish is not complex. I need only to distinguish between authenticated users, who will have access to BuddyPress in its entire functionality as a “social network†and strangers, who will essentially see only minimal informational content, but remain locked out. This is an invitation only site that does not need to recruit new members via its web presence. My authenticated users don’t necessarily even need to be able to create new blog posts, they just need to be able to interact with each other using BuddyPress.
The main reason for a member plugin is to privatize the site and to give the client an opportunity to scale towards paid renewals when their membership’s one year intro period concludes.
Their membership right now totals under 100 users.
Can you speak to whether or not this plugin will “play nice†with a BuddyPress site?
Thanks for taking care of this so quick. Cheers
Working good for me too.
Thank a lot! Works great.
Thanks! it worked.
@Monica, AJAX queries can be cached by the browser. Please make sure you have cleared your browser cache after updating the plugin.
PS. Scratch one, that seems to work now, also the delete function. 2 and 3 are still issues.
Thanks!
I updated, but I’m still having problems.
1. Nothing happens when I click edit on membership level
2. When I try to edit content level, there is no content beyond the drop menu, just white space
3. Member is visible on dashboard, but not member area
Thanks for updating the plugin so quickly to make it compatible with WordPress 3.1!
